I have worked for WPCC for just over 13 years, and I thoroughly love my job. I started out as a volunteer at my local playgroup many years ago, and over the years worked in schools, nurseries and for some time I was a foster mum. I then worked for many years in a local women’s centre, given advice and support to women and their families. I love meeting our members, they are so inspirational and very supportive of other families within the group. Over the years I have seen many changes within the charity sector and see what an important role they play in today`s society. In my spare time I enjoy crafts, knitting, reading and I love swimming and spending time with family.
I have always worked in the field of childcare and education. In 2008 after completing my degree I went to work in primary education. I joined WPCC as a parent carer in 2016. As a parent of children with additional needs the charity enabled my family to feel included, welcomed and valued. As my caring commitments increased, in 2023 I changed my career and was lucky enough to find myself a role working for WPCC. My favourite part of the role is meeting the families and listening to their stories, i'm always in awe of the strength of character they show and also the support networks created through our events. In my free time I do enjoy going to the gym, family days out and a good series on Netflix !
I have been a member of WPCC for a number of years with my two daughters, the youngest of whom has additional needs. Most recently I have been a carer for my daughter . I have been a volunteer with Riding for the Disabled which I really enjoyed and gave me a lot of satisfaction. I am excited to be joining WPCC and look forward to meeting members at the various upcoming events and coffee mornings. In my spare time I enjoy running, walking my dog, reading and watching football!
